Why did Kia’s designers think this is a good idea? It was bad enough on the Sportage, now the Forte has bumper mounted turn signals and tiny reverse lights, at least the Sportage is a tall vehicle but with this any scrape on the corners might mean a broken light and they are harder to see.
Still, at least I prefer it to the blinking brake lights of some USDM cars.

Looks like it might be a PITA to change the bulbs, too. Of course, these aren’t VAG cars, so it won’t be a weekly thing.
I look at Toyolex products with reflectors low on the bumper as kind of a marker at night, to dodge these vehicular pylons. Maybe these lights will have a similar function.
I think blinking lights might be a commercial vehicle or aftermarket thing.

That’ll be an expensive Camry/Carolla bump.

My guess is they were trying to find a use for the ubiquitous fake vents that all new cars “need” and thought “let’s put lights in it”

I had the same thought. This will make Kia owners get their Camry dents fixed.

For toyolex that’s just to make the inevitable camry dent repairs more profitable

The solution to this is easy, don’t hit stuff.

I thought those were blanks for rear fog lights, like you get in Europe. That’s what the reflectors in the bumper of my Focus are, so I figured other companies do it too.

Could be for the RX, which is a typical lane-clogger at night. Id on’t know about the Corolla though, which I don’t think exists in Europe in USDM form.
I do know I don’t want those drivers with rear fogs - they will leave them on 100% of the time.
